So
what is a business analyst?
One of the questions we are often asked is "So what does a business
analyst
do?"
The simple answer is we translate the business need into a language that can
be used to design and implement the business solution. Translating from ‘business
speak‘ to ‘solution provider language‘ - whether the provider
is IT or some other solution, for example process improvements. We work with
internal and third party suppliers tailoring our methods and approach to the
situation we find ourselves in. A business analyst also produces creative solutions
to business problems. At Positive, we balance creativity with practicality when
producing solutions
to problems.
Business briefs
We give a rapid assessment of the business idea or problem and the business impact
that a project might have - both good and bad.
Feasibility Study
We identify a number of solution options and make recommendations for moving
forward.
Business Design
We detail what the solution for a problem looks like in business terms - we look
at the problem / opportunity. This involves identifying the root causes of the
problem and detailing any changes such as: New Processes, Organisational Changes,
Impact On People (numbers, skills, reporting structures), Impact On Customer
Experience and High Level descriptions of changes to IT Systems.
Business Requirements Specification
Whether it’s high level or detail that’s needed. Positive are
experts in Requirements Engineering. We help organisations produce quality
business documentation,
ensuring
that any solution provider knows what is required of them.
